I’m not sure about that. First of all, we would have to take care of business. It will be close, and Louisville would be headed into the tourney with 2 straight losses, but those two losses would be to Pitt and Stanford. In fact, their only ACC losses would be 2 to Pitt and 1 to Stanford, while Stanford has a loss to Miami on top of losses to Louisville and Stanford. Louisville’s only losses will have been to top-10 teams (2 to Pitt, 1 to Penn State, 1 to Nebraska, and
if we beat them, 1 to Stanford). On the other hand, Stanford has losses to (Pitt, Nebraska, Louisville, and Miami).
I’d say looking at the entire resume, the two teams are remarkably similar. You might give Stanford the nod for having one fewer loss, but Louisville had to play Pitt twice, while Stanford only played Pitt once, and Stanford has the worst loss.
So, if Louisville wound up getting a #1 seed, I don’t think it would be completely unfair.
All of this is predicated on taking care of business tomorrow, and let’s remember that Louisville swept us last time.
