Both the star setter and the setter she was recruiting decided SMU is not the right culture for them. That leaves SMU with one back up setter and that's it. According to what I read SMU WVB somehow has more money to buy players than any other college WVB team. Rumors are the SMU coach is hard at work trying to recruit an international setter.
Also Tessa Larkin ranked #4 in prepvolleyball's latest 2027 ranking. All I can deduce is her passing must be really good because in my opinion Larkin's hitting/blocking is not in the top ten for 2027 pin players.

Hope so, but Blyashov strikes me as Kendall Kipp level player (which is quite a complement) but not quite at the level of Plummer.
To give you an idea, Blyashov as a (redshirt) sophomore had a hitting percentage of .269 and 3.1 kills per set.
Plummer as a sophomore was hitting .319 and had 4.7 kills per set. She had by far the most attacks on the team.
Kipp as a sophomore hit .339 and 3.9 kills per set. She had the second most attacks on the team behind Baird.

Also agree Blyashov's passing is the question for me early in the season. Other than Etzler we don't have any elite passers this season. Even the DS's are average. I hope someone emerges as a Rubin style passer.

Blysahov isn't Kipp and she isn't even Baird.
