The NFL suspended Jed for six games (eligible to return October 20) and fined him $500,000. And yes, the San Francisco Chronicle has written an investigative series as to whether York received unusually favorable treatment from Ohio prosecutors. Conclusion? Of 100 comparable cases between January 1 and August 24, York was one of only two defendants whose prostitution charge was reduced to disorderly conduct, so...yes.
York's hearing was five minutes, he received no probation and he completed an online anti-prostitution class. Columbiana County Prosecutor VIto Abruzzino (great name) denies special treatment or influence.
York made a public statement, to wit: (a) accepted the league's decision, (b) apologized to his family, the 49ers organization and fans, and acknowledged falling just short of the example he wants to set for his sons. He also tried to have his criminal records sealed, but the judge denied the motion.
Didn't affect the 5-0 49ers at all, who after today's win over the Seahawks have now defeated three of the four teams in the AFC and NFC championship games last year (Broncos, Rams, Seahawks).
