Post-game Taylor said he hopes/plans to have more transfers come in mid-year.

Are there any coaches in the transfer portal?

After the WBB game I dropped into Gott's for a burger and the FB game was on. I was just in time to see us score the go-ahead TD ... and then the hideous turnover when we just needed to burn clock and then punt if we couldn't keep the drive going. Ugh.

I'm only a casual fan of football so I don't feel the pain as much as others here. The upside for me is the game was televised on CBS so Stanford is still on the national stage. Troy has another season to possibly bring in some transfers and continue to play in a Power 4 conference.
If Stanford had stayed in the PAC-12 with a rag tag bunch of random West Coast teams, I doubt this game gets on CBS. Fans on the East Coast would be saying about the game "whatever, is San Jose a D1 school?"

Stanford was ahead or tied in the 4th quarter against TCU, Wake Forest, Cal, and San Jose State. Stanford let all of those games slip away. Stanford just failed to take advantage of good opportunities in all of those games. Think how different this season would look if Stanford had seized the moment in those games.

While that may be the case, fans are not in for moral victories at this point and we lost every one of those games we could have won. We need to see improvement not a fourth straight 3-9 season. Although Taylor says he’s expects to add some transfers, how many transfers out do we think we’ll see? It’s time to move on from Ashton Daniel’s IMO. He’s had two seasons to show his ability. We need better QB play.

Probably doing just enough to keep his job while frustrating the ever dwindling pool fans that simply can't believe Stanford would settle for this level of coaching.
Actually, I think an argument can be made that TT makes Haase look like John Wooden.

Abysmal play calling vis a vis leading by 4 points late in the game; makes me nostalgic for the "turtle-ing" of the Shaw years. Wondering how many of our best players will be entering the portal for next season. I lay this loss directly at the feet of Coach TT.

Cal could have beaten Miami if Wilcox had not gotten conservative in the 4 th quarter. He ran on every first and second down. So sometimes conservative doesn't work either. Stanford has good defense so maybe tbey should havebpunted. San Jose looked pretty good.

What is there to say?
Nothing, really.
TT's job is safe, and Stanford football recedes further and further from anything that resembles fun and excitement. I am glad that the team played OK on the Big Game stage, but the win against Louisville was a true fluke and the victory over Syracuse wasn't much better. I respect TT as someone who is trying--I don't think that was true of Walt Harrs--but he is just not someone who can elevate a team by his leadership or offensive scheme, and while I believe he has belatedly recognized he importance of competent OL play, that doesn't mean he knows how to fix the problem.
Stanford will probably finish 3-9 again next year. Then we will see who might be interested in taking on this job after many, many years of neglect. It should be someone young with fresh ideas. December 2025 is when it will be worth talking about Stanford football again. See you on this board then, I hope.

Bill Parcells: You are what your record says you are.
LSJU has won 12 games in the past 4 seasons combined.
It looks like you have to go all the way back to 1958-61 for a worse 4-year period. LSJU won 9 games in those 4 seasons. That was before the Pac-8 was invented.

In any case, the game was on CBS because it is a partner of the MWC. It probably didn’t matter that much which conference Stanford is in. CBS probably didn’t have many good options for that time slot.. They signed up before the season started when they thought Stanford might be better and maybe they thought the ACC exposure would help.

so 12-36 the last four years vs 9-31 in 1958-61 so 0.25 vs 0.225

Replace TBD with Blessed Sisters of Sorrow touch football team & we have a chance
When I think of the last couple years of Coach Shaw, I think of Slow Mesh (Mess) failures
When I think of the first couple years of Coach TT I think of 4th & go for it failures. Including many that either gave opponent great field position, or passed up a field goal that could have been important. Oh, like today for example. That passed up field goal mighta sent the game to overtime. Instead of a drudgery shuffle back to locker room with big L pinned to your back.

It will take some time to learn the full impact of today's tough loss. Had we won, TT could have made a plausible argument that we were on the right path, heading towards respectability and solid football. With this dismal avoidable loss, we will only learn its full impact when we see how many (if any) of our more talented players opt to enter the portal to possibly move to another team where they believe they'll have a better chance to win and perhaps to develop themselves. TT is going to have to be extremely persuasive to convince needed veteran O linemen to transfer to Stanford given our dismal record the last two years.

It was fourth and goal at the 1. Going for it was the right call. There are lots of places to criticize TT for being overly aggressive, and there are plenty of problems with a team that can’t punch it in from first and goal at the three, but the decision to go for it was the correct one. I think even Shaw would have gone for it.
