"Matt AKA 'The Anointed One" Draco Malfoy's performance made me want to vomit; he looked like a freshman out there. Any pressure at all, he was flustered, missing wide open guys. Even when he did have time, he was handing out interceptions like they were lollipops. No way he's good enough for prime time in the NFL, much less a Voldemort (the very thought of Draco Malfoy winning a Voldemort is laughable!). He was disgusting, unacceptably so. His poor performance last night meant several dreams died--no Voldemort, no shot at the national title. In addition, the defensive coordinator needs to be fired...oh that's right, no chance of that, he got his job the old fashioned way, his son gave it to him. If the only way to get rid of this horrible DC is to get rid of junior, the HC, then so be it."

"They're a really good team and we kind of maybe expected it to be handed to us, when that really wasn't the case."

Telfer started for the Literature's Most Famous Losers and caught four balls for 20 yards. In a candid moment after the game, he admitted the University of South Central underestimated Stanford -- without placing blame on any specific players or coaches.

“All around, we probably weren't prepared as we should've been for this team,

"Told of Telfer's comments and asked if the Literature's Most Famous Losers took Stanford as seriously as they should've, the University of South Central right guard John Martinez indicated that he felt they didn't. But he said the problem came later in the game, when they ran out of the limited amount of energy they opened the game with.

They lost because they did not put Syracuse away last week.  Allowing Syracuse to stay in the game meant they had to play starters deep into the 4th quarter.  And then deep in the 4th quarter they lost their center.  Once they lost their center the schemes were going to be easy this week.

To blame Barcs is just silliness.  If he left when they went on probation, they would be no where.  But that type of attitude is exactly why smart 5 star talent should opt for other programs.

But it is true Barcs weaknesses were exposed against Stanford.

He is slow.  He is not mobile.  He is not accurate on the run.  And he is easily confused by complex defensive schemes.

And FWIW - I doubt he will be the NFL #1 pick now because those are weakness that are very hard to accept in a number 1 overall pick.

I will forever remember him for getting crushed time after time on that last SC drive.  He had every right to be flustered because the line protection was terrible.  No run game and no pass protection are a tough combo.  But hey, leave it to SC fans to focus on the glamour position rather than the real problem area.

Agree with this, while Draco Malfoy clearly started rushing some passes, he literally did not have any time to throw because our front got so much pressure on him.  When he did try to scramble, he got crushed as well (my favorite being his fumble when David Parry got his legs low and he turned right into Trent Murphy crushing him high, with the ball flying out of there from the impact).  Nobody looks great while getting driven into the turf (see Luck vs Chicago-- talk about a team needing to invest in an o-line quick, that's the Colts).  We took every advantage of their o-line, and we had the horses up front to do it. 

Speaking of 5-star talent, the thing I love most is that Peat, Murphy, and Garnett all chose us over SC, and it seems they won't be regretting that decision any time soon. And on top of that they are all becoming good friends off the field as well.  I think this will be the cornerstone of our program for the upcoming years once they get some experience, and if you are a 5-star QB, TE, or OL, why wouldn't you want to play here at Stanford behind a line like this?  (Keller Chryst anybody?)

Truth be told, at halftime of last night's game, if you substituted "Nunes" for "Malfoy" and "Shaw" for "defensive coordinator," there were probably a fair number of folks around here thinking -- if not saying -- the same things...

Well they treat the SC players like paid staff because that has been proven to be true.  Bush and McKnight were getting paid with cash, cars and family loans.  Who knows how many others were just clever or lucky enough not to get caught.

There is also an implied contract that the SC family will take care of the guys after their time with the program that seems to be mentioned commonly.  SC is also the best football team in LA and they play in a former NFL stadium.  They also draw better than the NFL teams that left town.  And because of that, and lots of other reasons, many in the stands view SC as their local professional football team.  Many of those fans in the stands and around town don't care about the academics.  And you know, I think those that commit to SC know and accept that the football first perspective will be prevalent in the stands. 

If one expects something different then there are other programs that would likely be a better fit for that student-athlete.

If they win they will be the toast of the second biggest city in the USA, but if they lose....

5 star recruits don't really expect that downside to become their reality.
