I don't know, seems simple to me:
Cal promises street agent/mentor/whatever Otis Yelverton job - North Carolina group commits to Cal - Otis Yelverton, did he get a job?
A google search reveals that Yelverton is working at Contra Costa this fall as an assistant of some sort: http://www.contracosta.edu/progsdepts/ex...HEDULE.pdf
Yelverton has had rumors pursuing him for a while now: http://www.news-record.com/content/2010/...oesnt_care
Now, is it implausible that a high school assistant coach could step up as an assistant for a small college? Probably not. On the other hand, it does seem odd that said small college would be interested in hiring a high school coach from across the country. Are their connections between Contra Costa and Tedford or someone at Cal? The head coach, Alonzo Carter, used to coach at Berkeley High (http://goo.gl/zTaZx), and Tedford has vouched for him (http://goo.gl/vscd7).
I don't doubt that Carter is a good guy (well, if reports are true: http://goo.gl/pEzFx), and Tedford seems like a nice fellow, for a 59er. Nevertheless, it is suspicious to me under the current NCAA rules. (If those are justified is an entirely different question....)
