Wow. An impressive win.
We shot 53% against a tough defensive-minded team and 44% from three. That is astounding against a Rueck team. I am reminded of the problems we had defending the old UConn juggernauts--Tara would absolutely take one opposing player's offense out and then the other 4 Hydra heads would strike. So it was with Oregon State. They neutralized Brink but the Belibi/Iriafan replacement combo scored 13 and had 14 rebounds.
Jump is such a threat. So often she starts with a miss or two and then the artillery bracketing sets in and the shells start hitting their mark.
And nice to see Lexie's offense come alive. From all over the floor, from bombs to reverse layups.
Anna Wilson was superb on defense keeping TVO from having a gigantic game, but she broke her multi game record of 0 turnovers--had 3 tonight. But it was nice to see her with 9 points. If she can keep that level of scoring up it will help open up the floor for others.
The third quarter was the turning point. Oregon State closed to within 4--you would never know by the final score how close the game was. It was Iriafan, Jones with a rare three, and then Belibi who got us our separation, assisted in part by Hamilton. The depth and versatility of the team was clear at that point.
Now, on to Eugene for our steepest Pac 12 challenge, given that we did not have to travel to the Arizona schools.
