With the advent of spring football, this seems like a reasonable time to bump this poll from last fall. We had 85 votes total and, based on the fact the David Shaw is still head coach and has not made significant changes to his staff, 58--or a bit more than 2/3--of the poll's respondents would have fired CDS by now. The rest are willing to give him at least one more year to produce a winning team. (In the interest of transparency, I voted to give CDS two more years, because I don't think there's a snowball's chance that this fall's team wins more than five games.)
As far as I can tell, the only thing that really changed since last fall is that the HS recruiting class is signed, sealed and delivered, there are three early enrollees and we had many departures and one arrival via the transfer portal.
So my question to those who voted: would you change your vote?

If there's one thing people have learned in Berkeley, it's that you can't put "Cal football" and "Rose Bowl" in the same sentence. The words just don't fit. You'd be better off linking "covered wagons" with "Mars travel." (Bruce Jenkins, Cal '70, SF Chronicle, Nov. 11, 2017)
