Good data; here it is over time:

Football has been the dominant sport while we both have been alive (I'm about 6 years ahead of you), so there is some staying power. That being said, in 1948 baseball was where football is now. It took about 20 years for football to overtake it, so it isn't out of the question that within your lifetime football will fall from its perch. Then again, in 1948, football was a clear second, while today, basketball (mostly flat), baseball (still declining), and soccer (starting to increase after being as low as 2% as recently as 15 years ago) are all in a morass for second place.
The numbers fluctuate too much for any clear trends to emerge. If you charitably anticipate that soccer goes up by 5% per decade and football declines by a similar amount, you might see soccer catch up to football by the time you are 70.
