Against North Carolina State we will wish to run on them since they are not deep--but doing so may hurt defensive rebounding a bit.
Offensive rebounding could be hurt if we want to get back quickly--as we should--to prevent their fast break points. Having Cam down under their basket waiting for them before they get there would be a good thing, but then she has to leave early.
This is the chess match.
When anticipating a lesser team, like Norfolk state, I think you just plan to play your game and count on it being better than their game and enough to win. To impose your game on them.
If you were Norfolk State playing Stanford then I think you go for What can I do (adjust) to try and take the better team out of their game, out of comfort zone, so I have a chance for an upset.
When up against a likely near equal like NC State, I don’t know how much you plan to stick to your game and intend to impose it on them, or how much you adjust to try stop their game.
In some aspects or moments you can’t do both. As your example, Cam is either going for O boards or she is hustling back to try block or discourage their fast break penetration.
Can’t do both
Glad it’s Coach Tara and not me making the call!
