I don’t believe the advent of NIL has fundamentally changed athletes; rather, I believe it has exposed their underlying values. Each athlete now operates as a speculator, weighing the long-term investment of their college experience (education, personal growth, connection, etc.) against short-term financial gain. This shift has blurred the line between college as an investment or a pursuit of immediate profitability.
