That's about the happiest I've been in Stanford Stadium since the end of the 2015 ND game. The game meant nothing in the big picture, but still meant everything. And it looks like Stanford has 2 future NFL receivers now. Daniels is still too slow to pick a target, but I'd say that was one of his best games from an accuracy perspective. For sure one of Daniels best games. Possibly it represents an epiphany, but I doubt it. He was accurate yesterday. Will that continue at a high level? Seems improbable, but who knows? His decision making still left something to improve upon. In fairness to Daniels it was pretty clear Louisville had decided that containing him in the pocket was important. His long runs from the previous games were not there in this one. He did get one fairly long run based on great effort carrying half of the defense on his back. To his credit, he did the job in the pocket better than usual. He was still too slow in getting rid of the ball in some cases, but he didn't make bad decisions and throw a lot of picks.
Stanford seemed to perform better IMO when we moved the pocket. Daniels seemed to handle it well and didn't get stuck in a position where his vision was blocked, he was under pressure immediately and he couldn't really get a pass off. Yesterday Kal's defensive line was pretty ineffective, but I don't expect they will be that bad next week.
That said, many of us wanted to see what Brown could do. The fact we haven't worries me a bit. It wasn't a matter of preserving his shirt, he could have played in four games. There may be good reasons for this. Maybe we see him in the next two. Possibly the staff has decided that he won't be effective with the OL we have. That problem hasn't gone away. There are other possibilities, most of which are "bad".
