Defense was bad yesterday, but I think that offense is our biggest problem right now.
First 4 games we averaged 1.26 points per possession. Last 4 just 1.06. The median for D-I is 1.02. And we've played one of the easiest schedules in the country so far.
Basically, 3-point shooting has dried up since the first part of the season (37% the first 4 games; 26% the last 4 games). With 3's not much of a threat, we're not getting good shots anymore, and even mediocre to bad teams have been able to shut us down by clogging the lane. And that leaves us pretty much with either Raynaud or a very difficult shot by someone else.
When you're hitting all your 3's, any coach looks like John Wooden. But now that outside shooting isn't hitting, Smith needs to do something different to generate some offense.
