I was thinking of the tsunami warning as well.  The warning wound up being cancelled, so in some ways a false alarm, but it was effective in that I got me to monitor the situation and do a bit of a calculation of how much risk I was going to be.  Had I been in, say, Half Moon Bay, I probably would have looked to pack stuff up.
