The new math: New Hampshire Gatorade POY > Georgia GPOY + Wisconsin GPOY + Missouri GPOY + North Carolina GPOY
There's a certain confidence that a team gathers when you know you have the best player on the floor. Okorie imbues our team with belief that we can compete. Somewhat like Curry but in a totally different way, his gravity disrupts and breaks down defenses and our other players need to knock down the open shots when they are there, and we did that tonight. Enormous stretch of 3 balls hit by Dent-Smith to keep us hanging around in the 2nd half and eventually to give us the lead.
When was the last time we had the fastest AND quickest player on the floor on most nights? I'd venture to say never. Brevin was usually the quickest, but he didn't have the top end speed of Okorie nor the ability to finish inside. Okorie took it directly at Caleb Wilson for layups with either hand. His handle is amazing, particularly in traffic when he is probing and probing for openings. I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY hope that he stays for another year.
I like that we have 4 guys at the end of the game that we can likely trust to shoot FT's: Gealer, Okorie, Dent-Smith, Agarwal. Bodes well for the end-game in most cases.
UNC does not appear to have the caliber of team that they usually have. Caleb Wilson looks like a legit NBA lottery pick (where they won't call his slippery pivot foot either). Veesaar looks Charmin soft (can't spell Veesaar without AVERSE to contact) and other than being a 7 footer with a decent touch, he's got no NBA future and probably none of his teammates other than Wilson do either. But it's still a thrilling victory and to beat UNC 2 years in a row is something I never would have expected.
