Maybe I'm misunderstanding your argument, but isn't the WBB/MBB transfer portal open in April right after the NCAA finals? I presume that Tempie Brown is going to hit that market with her best efforts, so why not wait to pass judgment until the portal closes?

It seems to me that GM Brown is almost as critical to next season's success as Coach Paye.

Based on how this season is going, Brown doesn't have much to go on, in terms of enticing players to Stanford, especially if we miss the tournament again and end the year on a multi-game losing streak

I would consider it a win if none of the freshmen leave but in this day & age, I would not be surprised if at least one of them looks elsewhere, given the declining state of the program and the NIL money other schools can offer. One of the historic advantages we have - a top tier program is no longer there and currently looks to be a long shot to getting it back. It would be catastrophic if we had a mass exodus (a la Oregon and Oregon St. in the last few seasons)

Maybe I'll be wrong and Kate's strength is talent retention and she can convince the players that next year will be better but with next year's very lackluster recruiting class, reinforcements are not on the horizon either
