Kelly didn't leave.....this time.Â
But if he is taking the opportunity to actually go and sit down for an interview and seriously listen to the NFL, then I think it is only a matter of time before he goes. Another successfuly year or two and I assume he'll be on his way. The whole situation feels like Harbaugh in the Midwest; ambitious coach moves from lowest levels of college football (where he had lots of success) to revive a moribund program, flirts for a couple of years with the NFL, gaining contract extensions and raises along the way, and finally gives in to the siren song of big time football.Â
Same thing could happen with Shaw at some point, though for now he got his contract extension/raise, but presumably avoided the drama of any interviews. Maybe that is an indication that the Sirens are not in Shaw's head just yet. Or maybe he's the rare gu at this level who really is content, as he says he is.Â
