Miles Gaskin just broke the freshman rushing record at UW. I don't think they have a need for a starting running back next year. They are going to be a scary team in a couple years, if not next year.

I think if Barry J transfers anywhere next year it will be back home to Okie St. But this all presumes he's going to graduate this year. Anybody know if he's on track for that?
Why do we presume OK State would want him? Or any other power 5 school?

Because he's good enough to play for many of them. Maybe not the #1 guy, but #2 or for sure #3. Here he's likely to be #4. But I think the bigger question is whether he will even be eligible to graduate transfer. Graduating in four years while playing football or any other varsity sport is really friggin hard.

Why would he be number four? Wright is graduating; so if we assume McCaffrey is one and Love is two, Sanders would be #3, unless you think Scarlett or a true freshman would jump him.

Why would he be number four? Wright is graduating; so if we assume McCaffrey is one and Love is two, Sanders would be #3, unless you think Scarlett or a true freshman would jump him.

I think Scarlett would jump him unless Barry J is clearly better. Given how little he played down the stretch, I don't think that will be the case. Scarlett has 4 years of eligibility left, Sanders has 1. I'd bias toward the younger guy unless there was a compelling reason to do otherwise.
I hope he stays, because I never like to see players leave the program no matter who they are. But it wouldn't surprise me if he did.

I don't think the issue is blocking for Barry. Sanders is simply not terribly effective* as a runner.

Barry Sanders' statistics so far this year -- 48 carries, 312 yards, 6.5 yards/attempt, 4 TDs.
His career statistics -- 112 carries, 669 yards, 6.0 yards/attempt, 5 TDs.
Those numbers might get him an offer elsewhere, if he decides to look around.
He won't play much at Stanford next season, barring an injury to McCaffrey or Love.
As a point of comparison, Kelsey Young went to Boise State looking for more playing time. He didn't win the starting job, but he did get more playing time than he would have had at Stanford. He is Boise State's second leading rusher with 91 carries, 457 yards, 5.0 yards/attempt, 7 TDs. So he found a bigger role for a lower-profile, less successful team, and he got to go to school in Boise for a year.
