Actually I thought the LA sports writers, usually a cynical bunch, were surprisingly upbeat about U$C despite the loss. it was kind of like, well the team played hard, but when the other team has Superman (AKA McCaffrey), what are you going to do?

What do you think is worse?  The regional (SEC) bias or the "got their team to the playoff" bias.  I think it's the latter, and I think McCaffrey gets the award if we had gotten into the playoffs.

Finebaum this morning said the same thing. Not getting into the playoff has doomed McCaffrey. He also admitted he didn't watch the game last night (but intends to today) as it was third fiddle to the ACC and Big Ten championship games. He did add the his automatic vote for Henry will wait until after he sees McCaffrey.
