Best guess is that ticked Mike Bloomgren off, leading him to tweet this: [tweet]735565947738685442[/tweet]
Michigan's graphic of "Coach Drevno's Influence on the NFL" includes 7 Stanford players -- Fleener, Ertz, Toilolo, DeCastro, Martin, Yankey, and Fleming. Let's look at
"Drevno's Influence" on those 7 players.
In 2007 and 2008, Drevno was listed as Stanford's TE coach. In 2009 and 2010, Drevno was listed as Stanford's Offensive Line coach, while Greg Roman was listed as the coach for TEs and OTs. Given Roman's responsibility for OTs, I assume that Drevno worked primarily with centers and guards and was not the primary coach for tackles.
Here's Drevno's coaching relationship to each player --
TE Fleener -- Drevno was Fleener's position coach for his first two years, 2007 (redshirted) and 2008.
TE Ertz -- Drevno was never Ertz's position coach. Ertz came to Stanford in 2009. Drevno's last year as TE coach was 2008.
TE Toilolo -- Drevno was never Toilolo's position coach. Toilolo came to Stanford in 2009, same as Ertz.
G DeCastro -- Drevno was DeCastro's position coach for his second and third years, 2009 and 2010.
T Martin --
Roman was the OT coach in Martin's second and third years, 2009 and 2010.
Drevno was the offensive line coach.
T Fleming --
Roman was the OT coach in Fleming's true freshman year, 2010 (redshirted).
Drevno was the offensive line coach.
T Yankey --
Roman was the OT coach in Yankey's true freshman year, 2010 (season-ending injury early in the year).
Drevno was the offensive line coach.
My conclusion -- Drevno is exaggerating his "influence" considerably. He didn't coach some of these guys at all, he wasn't the primary coach for others, and he overlapped with some of them for just one year. Drevno appears to have been the position coach for just 2 of the 7 players. No wonder Bloomgren was annoyed.
