One little correction on the OL rotation ...
Little came in for Hamilton for the second quarter series where we turned over the ball on downs after the third and 27.
Hamilton came back in the next series, and I believe stayed in until Burns and the second unit checked in for the second drive of the third quarter.

More engaging, informative than a lot of the professional coverage. Also nice to read when most of the college football media treated the season opener in Australia as equivalent to a minor riot in a penal colony. Well, we get our debut on the Big Stage this coming weekend. Hope we're up to the task. In the flow of such a successful game, I hadn't marked the insertion of Walker Little into the OLine. Hope he learned enough in that opener because USC's d-line reckons to be a master class in trench warfare

Here's an interesting note about Hamilton. After the first viewing I was wondering about the line, and it seemed to me like Little had played more than Walker. I asked Twitter, and a few people agreed with me. They were people I respect, so I ran with it. Anyway, Devery Hamilton, Sr., responded to me on Twitter and suggested I take a closer look if thought his son had been outplayed. To be honest, I really don't know. It just felt like Hamilton was getting beat around the right edge, but I didn't focus on that issue during a rewatch, that was just my first impression.
The problem I have is that I'm very aware that there are players' parents who follow me on Twitter and read my site, so I'm always careful of criticizing individuals. I can't imagine what it would feel like to read an author's negative commentary on your child's performance. It would be one thing if this were the NFL, but these are still just kids.

Yes, it's coming on Friday, and I think I'll probably have answers from two different sources. You're right about Rice -- I couldn't find any blogs, and the few times I've reached out to a beat writer have resulted in less than scintillating answers.

While I think Mr. Hamilton Sr. is largely correct, it's going to give him continual heartburn if he keeps chasing all the potential critics out there.
Hamilton (the OT) did have a few issues very early on, though I'd have to rewatch to remember the particular plays. I thought he got much better, though I don't remember the exact timing. I do wonder whether Little coming in for the one series in the second quarter was preplanned, or done in response to the early struggles and thus to give Hamilton a chance to take a breadth, watch, and recalibrate. I don't remember any particular trouble at RT after that one series.

What's also interesting is that the other parent who kind of responded was Walker Little's mother. She tweeted a link to my recap and said something like "So proud of all our freshmen!"
