I think Shaw's QB development problem is a bit more subtle: he seems to have great quarterbacks, bad quarterbacks, and no in-between.
I respectfully disagree. Chryst is a mediocre QB. He can lead this team to an 8- or 9-win season but that's the top end. And doubtful a team he leads would win fewer than 6.

Respectfully disagree. Without CMac/Bryce Love, it is very easy to visualize Chryst with fewer than 6 wins.

I mean, UCLA is 4-4 with games left against Utah, ASU, U$C, and ×ÉÉ; it seems likely that they will be headed to a 6-6 season, with Josh Rosen as QB. So yeah, Chryst could easily be a sub-six win QB. Trent Edwards was a third-round draft pick; in his best year he was 5-6. Jared Goff was the first pick of the draft and went 1-11 in his first year at ×ÉÉ (lifetime record at ×ÉÉ 14-23). Bottom line is that without a decent supporting cast, even an NFL caliber QB can have a sub-six win season, and although Shaw has been quoted as saying he thinks Chryst could go in the NFL draft this year... I have my doubts.

Stanford's record in 1982 should be 6-5. I saw the score of Big Game on The Axe in the Home of Champions just last week. :D
