Read an article with a bunch of his quotes. Suffice it to say I was not impressed. Don’t misunderstand me, I’m not suggesting that’s a reason not to offer. Don’t want to go there. 

IMO, the primary factors were:

1. He wanted to play with his HS QB, whom he knows will get him the ball. For those who can remember back to the 70's, think Pat Haden and JK McKay.
2, He wants to get to the NFL as soon as possible. This is more important to him than the "40 year decision".
3. His personality is more suited to U$C. Anyone catch his on the field antics during the Army AA game, which drew him an Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalty?

Unfortunately for us, the guy can play. Not looking forward to having to face him for three years.

We didn’t offer Rosen.  Also, I think underlying the debates about Rosen was really a debate about the coach who chose not to offer him.  I doubt that three years after the fact, we would have had threads about it had he been offered and still decided to go to UCLA.

Rosen wasn't a showboat.  That's not why we didn't offer him.  At the beginning of Rosen's senior year, I read an interview in which Rosen revealed an awful lot of his personality, and it didn't conform to what I imagine Shaw would expect from any of his players, and in particular his quarterback.  Three months later, I went back to find the interview, and couldn't find it.  But given Mora's exasperated actions and reactions, I think we probably made the right choice.

Well, I'll conclude my remarks on this issue by saying I don't find whether we offered a guy or not a particularly compelling rule as to whether we are allowed to make "disparaging" comments about him.

You have a good point.  However, I would say that it would be challenging to have a frank discussion about why we didn't offer a player without saying something disparaging about the player, unless you want to take Shaw's point that we didn't take any QB's that year at face value (no, we didn't take any QB's, but we did offer one), or without being vague to the point of unhelpfulness("we didn't offer because we decided to go in a different direction").  Third, of course, as I pointed out, the discussion about Rosen was less a discussion about Rosen than it was a discussion about Shaw.

And lastly, other than the admin, there is no rule about making disparaging comments.  I just pointed out that it's not a good look; it comes across as sour grapes.  But if you feel strongly about the issue, you have every right to post your thoughts.

This was the feeling I always had, probably from reading the same articles. This appears to be a unique family, and I'm really looking forward to getting to see (and learn more about) Osiris in the fall. It would've been great to have Amon-Ra, as people seem to believe he's the most talented of the three brothers, but one will have to be enough.

This was the feeling I always had, probably from reading the same articles. This appears to be a unique family, and I'm really looking forward to getting to see (and learn more about) Osiris in the fall.
