Hurlburt--
Yep, there was a long sequence in the first half of Humphrey finding himself wide open at the high post, turning to face, and bricking an 8 to 10 foot jump shot. Then he tried to start to get closer to the hoop, and that led to the blocks; he's not exactly the type to power to the hoop through contact.
Our more experienced players (Pickens, Humphrey, Travis) went a combined 9-30 from the field. 30%, from two post players and our best shooter. That would lead to problems in most any game.
But we also had our same old issue - no really good defensive guards. Justin Bibbens, the Utes' diminutive PG, absolutely torched us, especially on the pick-and-roll, which allowed him to match-up against Humphrey on the perimeter. 7-9, including 4-4 three pointers.Â
We have great defensive length, and that is probably where the game is heading - Warriors' style interchangeable 6-3 to 6-9 long players. But it feels like those players think that they can make up for being slow to react and/or out of position based on that length and athleticism. May be a freshmen thing - they were likely able to do that at their last level of basketball.
