I'm torn because I'd love to see him get drafted and make the NBA, but I think he could be the anchor of a pretty good Stanford team next and improve his draft stock.  It'll be interesting to see what kind of reception he gets from NBA teams.

PRO
- Big and strong
- Plus rebounder

CONS
- Not great length *
- Not a shot blocker *
- Not an above the rim athlete *
- Mediocre FT shooter
- Mediocre outside shooting range
- Mediocre finisher inside
- Poor play maker and mediocre ball handler (1 assist/game in 34 mins is awful)
* Can't be fixed

I can't really comment on Travis as a perimeter defender, but PFs must be able to defend the 3pt line and not be easily beaten off dribble in modern NBA. Though I can't definitively declare anything here, my assumption is he isn't a great perimeter defender.

Travis isn't likely to be drafted in the NBA this year. I would argue the combination of his value to Stanford and the fact if he works on it he can improve his offensive game to be more valuable to the NBA, means the wise move is to return for his Senior year at Stanford. Because if he can get his 3pt FG% to 35%, his Effective FG% up to 60% (must improve his FG% in the paint), and his FT shooting to 75%+, he might have a shot at being drafted in 2019.

Does this seem like a fair assessment to those who follow Stanford hoops closely?

I think you nailed it, but he will never be big enough to be a 4 in the NBA (when you factor in length and leaping ability) and he will never be quick enough to be able to defend the perimeter in the NBA.  I would argue that even if he becomes a 45% three-point shooter next year he will never have a position in the NBA.  The best case is that he will someday become an end-of-the bench 3 point specialist, but I can’t imagine he can even hint at that kind of potential next year.  I love his college game, but I don’t think it translates well unless he grows at least three inches.

Travis may want to go the Rosco Allen route and play in Europe. He could have a nice career overseas. Of course, Rosco is European which made it a homecoming of sorts for him, and not the case for Reid.

I hope Travis comes back an anchors a team with sweet 16 potential.

Just curious what the source of that quote is.  Is it wishful thinking? There’s a lot of “he could do this” or “he could do that”, which of course is true... he could grad transfer, of course.  But there was nothing to suggest that he will in that piece.  So,has he given any indication, either publicly or through back channels, that if he doesn’t think he will be highly drafted that he would grad transfer.  Or is this speculation based solely on the fact that he has a season of eligibility left, could graduate, is testing the NBA waters, but may be a marginal draft pick?
