Nope, nope, and nope.  But good guesses.

The most recent one was three years ago.  The other two were in the 90's, one by a pitcher who had best been known for his accomplishments as a Dodger.

Surprisingly (at least to me) is that far more than half of the immaculate innings in MLB have been since 2000.

Yes!  June 16, 1998 versus the Colorado Rockies, Hershiser struck out Ellis Burks, Vinny Castilla, and Todd Helton on 9 pitches in the 4th.

It would be fascinating if we ever saw a case of an immaculate four strike-out inning (12 pitches).   In MLB history, there have only been 86  4-strikeout innings and there have been only 90 immaculate innings.  Given that there have been over 210,000 MLB games played, the odds of a 4-strikeout inning are only 1 in 45000, and the odds of an immaculate inning are about 1 in 43000, the odds of an immaculate 4-strikeout inning are vanishingly small (the two events are not independent, so you can't just multiply the odds).

McMahon was 44 when he ended his 5 1/2 year career with SF (1969-1974).  He was a very good reliever.  For the Giants, he was 29-15.  His career ERA was 2.96 and his WHIP was 1.246.

He didn't reach the majors until he was 27.   He went 20-9 as a 20 year old, then a year later was in the Army during Korea.  After a few years, he comes back, and had a good year, then a very difficult AAA year, then worked his way back up to the Milwaukee big club.  He was your prototypical pretty good middle reliever.  When he retired, he'd pitched in the fourth most games, ever and as of 2006 he was 14th in fewest hits given up per nine innings.  Collectively, he held Hall of Famers Hank Aaron, Ernie Banks, Johnny Bench, Harmon Killebrew, Bill Mazeroski, Joe Morgan, Stan Musial, Brooks Robinson, Frank Robinson, and Willie Stargell to a .149 collective batting average (28-for-188)

Incidentally, Giants have won 9 of 12 and are now 17-15, 9th in the league.  The Braves had won five straight before they ran into the Chris Stratton buzzsaw.  Kidding, of course.  The Braves hit tons of line drives, the Giants just hit more and had more fall in.  Giants had two errors, but won 9-4.  Guys who haven't been expected to do well were roping Foltenywicz's fastballs.  His first seven pitches were 97 mph or higher.  Crawford was 3 for 5; Hansen, Posey and Longoria were 2 for 5, every starter got at least one hit except for Jackson who walked twice.  Stratton now 3-2, only three earned runs.  Dyson, Watson & Smith each pitched an inning, none gave up an earned run (Smith gave up unearned run).

Giants slowly climbing up statistical ladder, now 25th in runs, 24th in OPS, 20th in HRs.  18th in fielding.  12th in ERA.
