What Track and Field HOFer and multiple world record holder never finished higher than fourth during his three Olympic years?

Not Nurmi. He never combined the marathon w track races in the Olympics. The answer is Lasse Viren, who won the 5000 and 10000 in Montreal in 1976, then decided to give a try to the marathon. From these posts, appears that several of us were there to see it, including me.
Now I'm trying to figure out what a HOFer is.
