Has anyone successfully transferred from the Pac-12 or Big Ten to one of the other conferences that are playing? Do they become immediately eligible if they can pull this off? The obvious choice for someone like Tay Martin would be Miss. St., assuming he hasn't had enough of Coach Leach. But it strikes me as unlikely that a player could still transfer and play this season. Maybe he's just trying to set himself up for next season.

I’m guessing that if your school drops football , even for a year, you get to transfer without having to wait to play.

If a player is so great that they could potentially start for top tier SEC teams without any practice, then they probably are better off staying with their current team, opting out of a Spring season (if it happens), and getting ready for the NFL combine.
My guess is we will see a number of 3rd and 4th year Pac-12 and BigTen players go directly to the NFL combine/draft in time, but there is no need to declare that path here in August.
