It looks like the zone has discombobulated UCLA.  I wish we had tried it a lot earlier.  With our length, the zone does feel like it should work.

Looks like we are a soft team. Other teams are getting Offensive rebounds at will against us. UCLA is not a big team yet they out-rebounded us by a good amount.

Can someone explain to me why no review of the play where Kiana got elbowed in the head?  I thought automatic review, foul called or not.  I don't know that it was or was not a foul, but I thought they were supposed to always review that sort of thing.

UCLA deserved the win.  They shot great first half, crushed us on the boards, and made fewer mistakes when it counted.  A shame that last pass was a TO, but why was Belibi passing to Jones there anyway?  Player in front of Jones and looked like Belibi had a lane to the basket.  What happened to our rebounding?  it was a strength all season until the last couple of games, then fell off a cliff.  The team to me looks a bit mentally fried from the loooooooooooong roadie.  They are making mistakes and missing stuff like strong box outs that they were doing better a few weeks ago.  Defense has not been that great lately, though gotta give credit to UCLA shooters in the first half.  If we only rebounded decently and did not make a few really bad mental mistakes, this is a win.  Oh well.  Went from the penthouse to maybe out of the top 10.

-14 Oboards, -2 TO's, +1 Steals = 15 more possessions for them (depending on how the +5 blocks turned out). On top of that, we only make 2 3's.  Thoughts on this:

- I don't think the problem was effort or desire. I thought we played hard and wanted it enough. I think it has to do more with matchups. Kiana and Anna were physically outmatched today. I agreed with Tara taking Anna out and leaving Kiana in. We need her offense too much. Fran and Haley really struggled to rebound the basketball against quicker (Onyenware) and stronger (Bessoire). In hindsight, the zone was a great move against this team and gives us options for the future that we might not otherwise have deployed.
- Brink has got to stay out of foul trouble. 2 of her 4 were acceptable, but the other 2 were not (silly reaching stuff). She has to stay on the floor as our best rebounder/finisher.  
- Our half court set is getting stale and/or our players are getting lazy on offense. 2 games in a row we aren't able to produce enough points with the other team taking away our dribble penetration. We have to free up 3 point shooters in our half court sets. In this game, we got outshot 8 to 2 in 3's. To win the Pac12, and to compete for a national championship, we have to be more effective here. It's not that we don't have shooters, it's that they aren't open. Plus, when you hit a few from 3, it opens up our inside game.
- Finally, we've got nothing in transition in our last 3 halves of basketball. Give Colorado and UCLA credit, but we are a very fast team and aren't using it to our advantage. I think Kiana and Haley are both lingering waiting for the outlet. One of them needs to take off. 

All that said, I remain positive. This team has what it takes if we can get our momentum back. How great would a real home stand be about now? :<

Some of the players play stiff. UCLA more athletic. Brink has got to get stronger. You absolutely cannot give away an inbound. Jones needs to post up and I would play her at the 5. Everyone needs to block out and get much more physical.

I really don't like it when Tara goes with a lineup of Williams, Wilson, Hull, Hull and a big.  The Hulls are really good perimeter defenders but they are not good post defenders or post rebounders. They are just not strong enough and a gust of wind can knock them over if they are expected to battle in the post.
