Well now they come here and lose the elevation advantage, but arrive with the confidence they can beat us. Since we lost to them, however, their sensational sophomore guard Jaylyn Sherrod has had surgery and is out for the season. Hollingshed, who pretty much single handedly beat us in Colorado, had a good game against ASU and had another outpouring of 22 points in her last outing against Oregon State. Nobody seems to be able to slow her down. However, Colorado lost both games. (Their other two were postponed.)
In their last game, Colorado only played 6 players for double digit minutes, so their depth has shrunk. Frida Formann, the sharpshooting freshman Danish guard, continues to score well and in fact Colorado had 4 players in double digits in their loss to Oregon State. To beat Colorado, we have to hold Hollingshed to some reasonable level of scoring without letting everyone else get double digits. But given how well JR Payne has disrupted our offense in the past, I would suspect the real key to the game is getting past the Colorado defense and putting points on the board. Colorado's offense is good enough to win but we ought to be able to hold it within reason on our second try, but the real danger is if JRP prevents our offense from ever getting into a groove. I'm sure that our coaches have been installing plays specially made for this reason :) But who know what wrinkle JRP will introduce in the chess game. She has an uncanny sense of how to throw sand into our gears.
