some really interesting stats:  right now, we are the worst team on the par 3's by 1 stroke (+21), and the best team on the par 5's by 11 strokes (-38).  we have the most birdies by 9 (74 birdies) and the second most eagles (5 eagles vs. 7 for the top team).  we also have the third fewest pars.  the stats don't show bogies and doubles, but i would assume we probably rank high on those as well.

We do, and that is the problem.  We don't do pars very well. You aren't going to do well when your best player is unlikely to break 80 for a round.

Now -17 through 11-15 holes, and now in third place 8 strokes clear of Oregon.  Six holes to ASU in second which is doable but going to be tough; 10 holes to Arizona is probably not.

This has been our pattern this year; start slow and shoot a really good last round.

With a few players still on the course, Shimp is tied for 1st in the individual competition. It's a good round to build on. Now we will wait on the regionals announcement next Wednesday.

It is known as "the Beau Hossler rule" by some. Originally, the substituted player had to be injured. Now it seems more lenient.
