Oregon State is whamboozled, Dallas Baptist comes out of Fort Worth and for the super-regionals will travel to the winner of the Old Dominion/Virginia game, taking place on South Carolina's field -- whenever the weather lets them play.

Oregon had a 1 run lead entering the bottom of 8th. LSU tied it, took the lead on a balk of all things, and added on more. Ducks got one across in 9th and game ended with runners on 1st and 3rd.

Rough day for the Pac, with only Arizona and Stanford making Super Regionals out of four chances. Bad day for Oregon with Beavers and Ducks ousted.

On the NCAA bracket (at least on my phone), Oregon State was listed as OSU and their opponent was listed as DBU. Other than Defensive Back University, I had no idea what DBU represented. Am I the only one who had to look it up?

If there's one thing people have learned in Berkeley, it's that you can't put "Cal football" and "Rose Bowl" in the same sentence. The words just don't fit. You'd be better off linking "covered wagons" with "Mars travel." (Bruce Jenkins, Cal '70, SF Chronicle, Nov. 11, 2017)

It sure is weird seeing a virtually empty stadium where UVA and DBU are playing in South Carolina. Does anyone know why they are playing there? South Carolina wasn't a Top 16 seed.

Why aren't they playing at Virginia?

And how is it Stanford or Notre Dame weren't earmarked to host Super Regional over South Carolina anyway?

Because of Covid regulations the NCAA decided that only regional hosts would be used as super regional hosts; both Virginia and DBU were unseeded so they weren't eligible to host.

South Carolina hosted the regional that Old Dominion would have hosted if it had applied.

SC was #2 in that regional and #3 was Virginia, which won the regional. So Virginia is continuing to play at the same site.

Do any of y'all who follow Pac-12 BB and College BB in general think Arizona is in a good position to win their game 3 with Ole Miss? They won 9-3 in Game 1 and are down 12-3 at the moment in Game 2.

I REALLY don't want to see 5 SEC teams in the CWS.

Awesome. #1 Arkansas gets beat by NC State, so now only 4 SEC teams possible, and only 3 will go if Arizona can beat Ole Miss.

The Stanford side of the bracket:

Stanford - NC State
Vanderbilt - Miss/Zona

Pretty amazing that NC State did this after starting 1-8 in ACC play, and losing their first game of Super Regional 21-2.

Arizona leads Mississippi 10-1 Top of 5th.

Looking good for the Wildcats.

Roxy Bernstein reports Arizona has suspended 2 of its best relievers - both sub 2.50 ERA - for this game. Not sure if the suspensions will carry over to Omaha should they hold their lead and win.

Vandy is looking like the team to beat. If we get past NC State, Williams will more than likely go against Vandy. It will be very tough to get to the championship game as Zona is no slouch either.

Wolfies look like the weak link, but any team that ousts the #1 seed at their ballpark deserved much respect.
