DL is very thin, as usual. Booker and DWP will be fine but after that...yikes. Tucker Fisk should have moved over 1-2 years ago, but better late than never. What impact will he have? Will Ryan Johnson give us anything? Will Josh Pakola return, and if so will he be able to play after some time off the team? Will Tobin Phillips give us anything? Aristotle is a DE through and through, but has not gotten to campus yet as he is a walk-on. A couple of the frosh have bulked up big time in the past month and a half.

It's not like there was a ton of depth at TE behind Parkinson when he left early.

- Having 2 one-dimensional blocking TEs who are not pass-catching threats, instead of just 1 one-dimensional blocking TE who is not a pass-catching threat

- A DL rotation of more than 3 guys

I'd hope you've read enough of my posts to know what I think of the importance of a functional and deep defensive line, even at the expense of a non-elite tight end.  I was just noting that unlike circumstances where we take a player from a position where there is already more than adequate depth, the fact that TE was already a thin position may have given the staff some pause.

While I agree that the lack of depth at tight end may have played a role, I suspect that Fisk wanted to play tight end lots more than he wanted to play on the DL. I believe Fisk wants an NFL career, and he thought he had a better shot at TE than DL. It may be he still thinks so, but it also may be he now is more willing to look at a "plan B". He is undoubtedly "doing it for the team" as well, but I think his motivation may not be just simple.
