We win 75-69; with great games by Brink and JVG to lead the way.
Brink finished the day with 25 pts and 15 rebounds (10/12 shooting; 4/5 FT line) and just 3 fouls and those fouls coming late on questionable calls, while Van Gytenbeek had a career day, with her best Jump impression going from 6/8 from long-range.
Belibi also came in at the end while Brink was rested for the final stretch with two big baskets in the paint and finished with an efficient 4/5 night.
Jones had a tough day, going 2/12 and not being able to get anything in the paint; Yeaney did a good job defending her and she also had 6 turnovers. However, she had 7 rebounds and 6 assists.
Lexie also has been struggling since her brobdingnagian game against the Ducks. While I am not expecting 30 points every time out, she hasn't been an offensive factor since then really. I also feel like Lacie got more playing time this game as well, which is usually not the case.

AZ outscored us in the 4th partly due to Reece's three 3s but mostly on the performance of Missy on the whistle.

I thought the reffing was generally pretty good. They "let them play". There were several questionables, especially in the 2nd half. But, I thought Cam got the benefit at least three times in the first half and i have no problem with it. Jana was amazing. She won't replace Jump but will keep her sharp, we hope. Don't think you can play them at the same time as neither are as good defensively as the Hulls and Anna. And, hopefully, Jana will realize the high school layups aren't there.

But, I thought Cam got the benefit at least three times in the first half and i have no problem with it. Jana was amazing. She won't replace Jump but will keep her sharp, we hope. Don't think you can play them at the same time as neither are as good defensively as the Hulls and Anna. And, hopefully, Jana will realize the high school layups aren't there.

DAMN SLING!!! I recorded the So. Carolina game earlier today. When I watched it, at 1:05, the recording ended, with "We're sorry! Temporarily unable to load video."
After the Stanford-Arizona game, I went to rewatch parts of Stanford-Arizona, and that recording is unavailable too after the first 36 minutes. First I've seen this, so I can hope it really is temporary.

I wouldn't have called the foul on Haley either, if that's what you are referencing. But, she took a tentative step forward into the screen and wasn't technically "stationary".
Question: Is Arizona better without McDonald? They have more shooters now and all of them have improved.

Thanks all of you, for the comments. I just can participate during a game that I'm attending because it's tougher for me on the phone than the computer, and I really concentrate obsessively on the game. But the comments are pretty much spot on. i think this was another game in which Stanford demonstrated that even if two top players (Jones and Lexie in this case) have a weak game, perhaps taken out of it by defensive focus on them, someone else will step up. Brink had a fantastic game, one of her best of the season, and JVG. Wow. Ann's work was great, and loved to see Belibi's play. I do wonder why Iriafen didn't get in at some point. I think she could have contributed, even been a sub for Haley.

With no Jump to stretch the D, Van Gytnebeek was critical and played a fabulous game. We had too many turnovers, a few where players miscommunicated and the ball ended up thrown to no one, even on an inbound or two. I thought Missy was terrible, worse than usual, calling phantom fouls and letting other stuff go. Brink was superb. On a day when Jones really struggled to finish and most of Lexie's made baskets did not count due to "fouls" somewhere else when she was shooting (or one where somehow they called a charge on a simple jump shot on her for no good reason I saw) we got good offense elsewhere - Van Gytenbeek, Brink, Belibi in her short time on court, Wilson, etc. UA is a much more balanced team and possibly better overall this season. Nice win and got my bobble, so I am happy. Nice to meet everyone at the half.

I just unpacked my bobblehead -- not quite what I was expecting (anticipated more classic version, medium size body and large head, sort of typical bobblehead), but this is nice. I like the weight as well. It will make a great conversation-generating paper weight!

We have a tremendous team and are the defending champs, wish we could get more people to attend games. Granted, I understand the Covid concerns. Attendance should still be higher IMO.

The refs were awful. Let 'em play is one thing, but there were several times that our players got shoved/smacked, a couple of times knocking our player down, and no call. I'm disregarding the number of times our players got hacked shooting, but you can't allow pushing and knock downs, players can get hurt. And most of the fouls called us were very ticky-tack and a couple were phantom. The refs just wanted to keep the game close so as not to diminish a top P12 team.

I echo the sentiments of jubilation for Jana. How awesome for her! ESPN announcers mentioned Jana was battling a concussion earlier in the season which kept her out. That was news to me. They also mentioned how Tara challenged her to be like the PG (Cardano-Hillary) for Indiana (who we played in the Bahamas) and that that is the type of impact Jana can have on our team. Interesting and insightful. Antonelli who called today's game was at the Bahamas tourney so I trust her inside information.
Fran also deserves a shoutout as she had a solid game along with Lacie, Wilson, and Brink.
