We root for the Pac. Oregon lost to almost a complete team of transfers.
Wrong. Mid major Oral Roberts who’s been to one CWS ever in their school history. Good for them and good riddance to the Ducks.

I know the Ducks are kinda obnoxious. But it’s such an easy choice to still cheer for them over ORU.

My bad. I'm sure I read that somewhere. Looks like only 10 or so are transfers:)

I know I'm in the minority on this but I've never been able to root for other PAC-10/12 teams in the postseason. It just seems so unnatural to cultivate an animosity towards conference rivals in the regular seasons of respective sports year after year and then flip the switch and start cheering for them in the postseason. Yankee fans don't cheer for the Red Sox in the World Series simply because they both represent the AL East.
In years past, there was an argument to be made that the collegiately of conference members was what separated college sports from the pros and why it made sense to support one another. I think that fairy tale has been debunked in the era of conference realignment. If Oregon or Arizona or Colorado think it's in their best interest to bolt for the Big 10 or Big 12, they're going to do it and not give "loyalty" to other PAC-12 schools a second thought. It's a business just like the pros.
The other arguments I've heard in favor of supporting conference foes are that their success buoys the rest of the conference's strength of schedule and that the postseason payouts support all conference members. I've just never found either of these very compelling.

Somewhere was my post a couple of places above. I didn’t count their entire roster but 8 of their 9 in the regular batting lineup were transfers; 5 new this season.
On the other hand, it seems pretty fruitless to tell somebody else which teams they should feel like cheering for or not.

Lots of excitement in CWS games today.
Oral Roberts rallied for 4 runs in the 9th to beat TCU, 6-5.
Florida rallied for 3 runs in the 9th to beat Virginia, 6-5.
It ain't over until it's over!

Armchair quarterback here but as I was watching the UVA-FL ninth inning, we kept asking one another why they didn't lift the relief pitcher. Would have made a ton of sense after the first home run.
Even the announcers right away mentioned that their best reliever had not even warmed up in the bullpen and by the time they put someone up and got him ready, he was being thrust into the worst situation possible. Was shocked that they didn't get a reliever warmed up while UVA batted in the top of the 9th in case needed. The manager's inertia cost them dearly.

I didn’t expect to be entertained by the CWS finals (LSU vs Florida) as much as I am at the moment.

Florida rips LSU apart 24-4. The most runs ever by a team in the CWS. Fortunately for LSU, Florida can't take any of those runs for tomorrow's game, but momentum is by the swamp.

Looks like after 4 innings LSU folded up, cleared the back end of their bullpen, and put their chips on game 3.
Other teams have pitching depth issues too.

Baseball continues to show it's a sport where game to game trends don't mean much.
This CWS was shaping up as the overall closest I can remember; with 9 of the first 14 games decided by 1 run or extra innings. Of the other five, one was a 2 run game, two were 3 run games, and two 5 runs.
Then everything went nuts.
Florida won game two of the final series 24-4.
LSU won game three 18-4.

I told a friend the Rockies would beat the Angels on Sunday after the Angels crushed them 25-1 on Saturday. Rockies 4, Angels 3 on Sunday.
I figured LSU would win Game 3 after seeing Gators pitched their top guy in Game 2, but who could have imagined that easily. Pretty smart strategy by LSU to play rope a dope of sorts in Game 2. Shades of Steve Kerr happily taking Game 5 blowout loss in Memphis to rest his team for clinching Game 6 in 2022 playoffs.
What a bummer that the championship series was so lopsided after first game, given there were so many great close games in the CWS as a whole.
