Well there was Tyler Buchner but maybe that was a dodged bullet. As for admissions, I don't know but didn't CMac get in with a 21 ACT and Sherman with a 990 SAT?

 It marks the 15th year in a row that the Tide football squad has ranked in the top four in the SEC by GSR

Explanation from the NCAA site of what GSR represents:

 This rate was designed to approximate a true
student-centered measure of graduation (the student graduated from any fouryear college within the six-year window) by essentially passing likely transfers
from one college’s cohort to another’s cohort. GSR calculations also deal better
with circumstances such as mid-year college entry (such entrants are not
included in the FGR).

Alabama's GSR for the 2016 cohort (most recent) was 93 percent, certainly below Stanford's GSR of 96 percent, but not very far off.

And while some believe the GSR is incredibly flawed because transfers out never count against the school they leave, Alabama was second in the SEC, behind only Vanderbilt's 95 percent GSR. Alabama's GSR truly shines compared to Georgia's godawful 41 percent.

I think every fan base thinks they missed out on Emeka Okafor. After UCONN crushed our title hopes in 2004, GT sites were full of posts lamenting that he didn't come to Tech like he was supposed to because of....something.

According to the interwebs, Okafor spurned Arkansas and Vanderbilt for UCONN.  We suffer in unpublished silence.

I guess Montgomery's deal was that he didn't know if Collins was coming back so he didn't pursue Okafor at all?  I assume there were zero available scholarships, otherwise that was stupid.

Jason Collins held the last remaining scholarship (I believe Rob Little had already accepted a scholarship), but it was likely he was going to the NBA. Montgomery’s fatal flaw was that he didn’t push Collins to make a decision fast enough. So while Collins dawdled, Okafor had to commit to UConn for fear of being left out entirely.

Collins went to the NBA like we all knew he would, UConn went on to win a national championship, and Stanford was left with one of the most amazingly talented teams in the country that spent a lot of time undefeated and #1, and fell just short.  (the team included I think PG Chris Hernandez, SG Matt Lottich, SF Josh Childress, PF Matt Haryasz, and C Rob Little). And Rob Little was a good player—it’s just that scoring, shot-blocking machine Okafor (also, a good, smart, hard-working guy) would have been the last piece of the puzzle, especially with Childress in the backcourt.
