Cal mens game should be a win for Stanford. What do you

Haase losing isn't the worst thing to happen. Assuming reality prevails here pretty soon. Bad assumption, I know.
I think Stanford MBB is currently losing to Lupin, a Netflix series. That's as bad as a program gets. (Without seeing Lupin, so I could be wrong there.)

I'm hoping to attend the game to say goodbye to Spencer, Michael, Keefe, Angel, even Bynum.
Didn't think I'll have a problem getting tickets at the box office before the game.

So much talent has arrived at Stanford under Haase, then either left early or graduated with no appearances in the Big Dance. Sad, very sad. Spencer will of course leave with a Stanford Degree which isn't all that shabby.

A Stanford degree, hundreds of thousands of dollars in compensation beyond his scholarship, and a major career school record!

Please explain that "hundreds of thousands of dollars in compensation beyond his scholarship."
He was given significant NIL money to return this year.

Stanford has the better players; we appear to be mostly in agreement on that.
Cal has the better coach, and it doesn't look to be particularly close.
You could also make a good argument that, despite Stanford having the better players, Cal has the better team.

WTF was Brink thinking? Putting up a three early in the possession on about the fourth or fifth possession of the game.

The TL/DR version is that Wilner thinks Haase should be fired. So do a handful of former players, with Muir being non-committal about anything (here's his statement):
Quote:“Stanford has a deep history of men’s basketball success, and I can understand why the on-court outcomes of recent seasons have been disappointing to many Cardinal supporters. As with each sport, we will conduct a thorough evaluation of all aspects of the program at the conclusion of the season.”
Here's the ChatGPT summary:
Quote:The article discusses the ongoing disappointment surrounding the Stanford basketball program under coach Jerod Haase's leadership. Despite optimism expressed by athletic director Bernard Muir in 2022, the team has failed to make significant progress and remains mired in mediocrity. Former players, including Casey Jacobsen and Todd Lichti, advocate for a coaching change due to the team's consistent underperformance. Despite recruiting successes, including several blue-chip prospects, Stanford has struggled to translate talent into on-court success. Issues such as lack of toughness, poor late-season performances, and unbalanced play contribute to the team's ongoing mediocrity. Haase's record, including a lack of NCAA tournament appearances, reflects the program's decline since the successful tenure of coaches Mike Montgomery and Trent Johnson. Former players and analysts express frustration with the program's inability to compete at a high level and call for decisive action to address its shortcomings.

I listened to Troy Clardy’s interview with Spencer Jones just before this game started. Spencer says he’s been resting the wrist for today. He also said he usually feels better after seeing one or two treys drop at the start of a game—and the first one went in today, so that’s a good start.

I only caught the second half of the game and Bynum was nowhere. Doesn’t look like he participated in the festivities as well.
