Well, I wouldn't really have expected Muir to say "I've already decided to fire him as soon as the season is over," even if that's true.

Of course not, especially before the Pac-12 tournament game. But 'releasing a statement' that amounted to a bucket of pablum added zero value.

Saying there will be a full evaluation is better than saying he has my full support (right up until I fire him). He'll be evaluated and probably fired. God forbid some one-off Wayne Tinkle - like run to the Elite Eight that costs more years of mediocrity or worse. Does seem unlikely, but the Pac 12 is garbage, so anything is possible.
