What is baffling to me is why now. Why not wait until Colorado is eliminated (probably the next game)?  Did something happen that they both sensed an urgency to get out of dodge at this instant?

My guess for Carlyle would be around the same as Ingram. Call it $300K/year. BUT, that was Ingram a while ago and it is growing. Now, what happens if Carlyle ends up at somewhere like UNC, the team has a great season and postseason, and he plays incredibly well. He will be more popular, which means more advertising, more leverage, etc. In 3 years, he could pull in north of a million and maybe a lot more depending on how things break. Stojo probably not that much, but he would make significantly more than at Stanford. The NIL money is significantly different for these two. Add the need for eyeballs and I highly doubt they'll come back.

Raynaud is interesting. He is one of the top few best players in the portal, and at 7'0 can pretty much write his own ticket. But, he's going to be a senior and then likely off to the league. Depending on where he goes, he might fetch close to $500K. But he cares way more about playing on a winner and in front of as many eyeballs as possible. Highly doubt he comes back.

Angel is a nice player and can make more than the $50K at Stanford (but not that much more) and it's only one year. Maybe Smith can lure him back, but need a grad program.

Murrell was a wasted talent, and is probably seeking a restart. NIL not much of a factor here. Also need a grad program.

Here’s my idea to deal with the portal bullshit. Scholarships plus. It would be a full two-year commitment. The player would not just get a scholarship. The player would also get a NIL deal tied to it.  Obviously, the amount being negotiated.  if the player doesn’t stay the full two years – all of the NIL money must be returned. No exceptions.  And they’d be renewable. Hell, make it three years with them having a third year “opt out“.

This is essentially no different now than free agency in  professional sports. Except actually, it’s worse because you can’t have long-term contracts. And at least in major league baseball, a team has control over the players for a few years.

Otherwise, they’re gonna lose a lot of fans. They’ve already lost me for the most part. I happen to be overseas right now, so I’m not watching, but I can’t even tell you who are in the final four on the men’s side. I do know Iowa is in the final four on the women’s side.

Something has to change. Because this is not sustainable.

My guess for Carlyle would be around the same as Ingram. Call it $300K/year. BUT, that was Ingram a while ago and it is growing. Now, what happens if Carlyle ends up at somewhere like UNC, the team has a great season and postseason, and he plays incredibly well. He will be more popular, which means more advertising, more leverage, etc. In 3 years, he could pull in north of a million and maybe a lot more depending on how things break. Stojo probably not that much, but he would make significantly more than at Stanford. The NIL money is significantly different for these two. Add the need for eyeballs and I highly doubt they'll come back.

Raynaud is interesting. He is one of the top few best players in the portal, and at 7'0 can pretty much write his own ticket. But, he's going to be a senior and then likely off to the league. Depending on where he goes, he might fetch close to $500K. But he cares way more about playing on a winner and in front of as many eyeballs as possible. Highly doubt he comes back.

Angel is a nice player and can make more than the $50K at Stanford (but not that much more) and it's only one year. Maybe Smith can lure him back, but need a grad program.

Murrell was a wasted talent, and is probably seeking a restart. NIL not much of a factor here. Also need a grad program.

Max Murrell entered the transfer portal on March 19th.

Matt Filipowski is in the portal out of Harvard. Twin brother of Duke standout Kyle Filipowski. Since Stanford is in the same conference as Duke next year maybe he'd be interested. He didn't have a lot of offeres out of high school but getting a 7'0 big man wouldn't hurt.

Another transfer out of harvard is 6'10 Justice Ajogbor.

From a great distance, and sitting in my barcalounger armchair coaches position, I have to imagine that Coach Kyle has at least a competitive pitch offer that can be made to the portal guys for returning:
1) playing time, .. almost guaranteeable? 
2) visibility, in a top conference, with some nationally televised games (I assume some for us, maybe prematurely so), others on regional networks, and almost all (?) on extensively available ACC network. 
3) complete a Stanford degree, you know, for if/when playing basketball might be done.
As to NIL? speculating here, but yeah maybe for some that grass will be greener elsewhere... but surely not so for all the Stanford guys in the portal? And as written elsewhere, not all NIL dollars are equivalent, with some being more reliably cashable than others. I have to hope ours fall into that more reliable bucket.
As to playing on a winning team? Yeah, well, that's always desirable, and so there's always a positive chance, however small, a losing team can turn around quickly.

A stanford degree in NIL landscape just does not mean much as it used to.  Give me a few mil over a Stanford degree any day especially if the school is still decent academically (Duke, Northwestern, Vandy, Notre Dame).

Even GT put out a cavalcade of stud freshman year after year in the '80s and '90s and Carlyle (from Atlanta) never reminded anyone of those guys. I might have missed it, but I didn't see any Tech posters saying he should come home out of the portal.  That is minimum NBA salary territory and does anyone see him playing in the League?  Was Haase's program that bad? Maybe.

Those are about the same numbers as Cody Williams from Colorado, who is an NBA lottery pick in many of the mock drafts. The stats don't matter as much as the combination of age and talent these days.
