He was at the Fiesta Bowl, so he definitely witnessed that event.  Post-game the love for LSJUMB must have been mighty low for those with OSU or Oklahoma ties.

But he ain't playin' in the band, so who cares if the band is good or bad??  Maybe if we was going to the SWAC this would be a real issue for a player on the team, but not in BCS AQ conference football.

Come on. The Band's reputation precedes it. Everyone knows the Stanford Band is going to be crude or offensive at some point. So if you don't want to be offended, then DON'T WATCH THE BAND. As you can tell, the OSU fans have good reason to carry a grudge about the entire University for such heinous behavior.

Garvin - thanks for the link. It was a really nice article that provided some good insight that contradicted a lot of the hearsay and common belief about Barry Sanders. I loved that he was so excited about coming to Stanford for a lot of great reasons. And I was very impressed that Mike Sanford did such an outstanding job against one of the toughest recruiting battles in the country. From all the articles and forum postings - it sounded like Andrew Luck and the lack of fan attention is what convinced Sanders to Stanford. With ace recruiters like Mike Sanford, we have a lot going for us and I for one, will sleep a lot better.

Wherever you heard that, it is not correct.  Perhaps you are confused by the fact that the bands staff and management changes at the end of football season every year.

I also think it's funny anyone is offended by the show as I'm pretty sure most of it was quotes from the musical "Oklahoma!"  I guess musicals can be pretty offensive, though, so maybe that's the reason?

Anyways, my guess is that most offended people are offended because someone told them they should be offended, like the Notre Dame fans who are convinced the band has burned effigies of the Pope during halftime and forms pentagrams out of urine after every game.

More importantly, that is a great piece on Barry J.  I can't wait until this class is just dominating people every game.

In the airport on the way home the day after the fiesta bowl I chatted with the Okie state fans and they were really pissed off about the awards ceremony.  They were all a bit confused by the pregame show.

I would just love for the band to tighten it up a bit. Maybe get a core group that plays loud and tight and gives the band just a bit of musical credibility.  No matter where they go parody wise.
