The UCB uniforms have changed more dramatically over time than the Stanford uniforms, so it is probably best to judge them with a frequent change perspective.

This new batch of outfits is fine, and definitely look better than many other UCB uniform versions over the last 40 years.  Their bright yellow, dark blue and road white colors just don't work as well together as red, white and black IMHO.  Once you have to deal with their color set, I think it is close to optimal.  Nike almost certainly wanted them to have 4 or more looks, and the little bear unifies the series.  Good for them.

From my perspective, the football uniforms look better than many in the Pac-12 and the logo looks a lot better than the Hartford Whaler inspired toilet bowl with a "C" logo.

The models wearing the volleyball outfits did not fit well and they made the models look dumpy.  But that is probably not an observation that will be noted by most fans if they don't have to watch Project Runway each week.

Yes, yes, the FOOTBALL team sports red and white traditionally, but as we all know the special occasion uniforms feature black.  And by my recollection the team is doing rather well with black uniforms.  If the players on the team elected to play with black uniforms in the BCS CG I would have no problem with that selection or concept.

However, the UCB fashion show was an all-sport deal.  If Stanford had an all-sport fashion show we would see black, and lots of it.  The show would include at least one black football uniform, and several of the women's sports teams sporting black uniform options (see women's volleyball, gymnastics, water polo, etc.)  So it is red, white and black that would be the featured colors in a Stanford show.  And I still maintain that those three colors work better together in a fashion show than the colors UCB is forced to use.

Occasional Pro Combats or all black alternatives are one thing, but if anyone ever suggests returning to the Teevens/Wlat era red, white, and blacks, please have that person committed.

Besides, the two-color unadorned uniforms fit the blue-collar "we work" image of the team.

Actually I sort of like the new Bear unis - If you weren't selected to wear read and white these aren't a bad second choice.  Like most I esthetically prefer the B.ear Blue and White versions over their Gray and all-yellow variants.


At least none of these are Black on Black.  I mean what team with any history would try that gawd-awful color?  (Oh yeah .... whoops.)
