Barbour left the door open:
"Within our football program, we still have a desire to create a more balanced schedule with a consistent mix of traditional rivals and recent marquee opponents at home. Although we are passing on this particular opportunity, we remain open to looking at the right set of circumstances in the future as long as they are consistent with the values and principles that informed this specific decision."
Here's the translation:
"I got too much crap from the alumni about moving the 2014 Big Game out of Berkeley, so I caved in to the pressure. But I think I might be able to get away with it if the Big Game is moved to Santa Clara in a year Stanford was supposed to host it. I realize that in the long run, it works out the same, but I think I can fool my alumni into not realizing that. So I'm going to start working on moving the 2015 Big Game to Santa Clara."
:P
