that the first half, when Auburn did the bulk of the their scoring was the worst half of football the team had ever played. On the scoreboard Auburn 26 vs. Alabama 21, but although Alabama's defense looked like it was getting shredded (and was) by Auburn's ground game and passing, three of its scores in the first half were field goals.Â
Saban said the second half was one of Alabama's best halves in his tenure : Alabama 34 vs. Auburn 18. Their stud WR Amari Cooper was the key. The only analogy for recent meaningful individual contribution in a Stanford context I can make was Ertz's contributions to our win in Eugene. Making plays, although Cooper broke free for more spectacular RACs. Or, in a team context, maybe the Orange Bowl vs. Va. Tech.Â
So more scoring than we've seen in a Bama game against a credible SEC opponent. But...a hell of a game.Â
