A strong first quarter by Stanford. Bowen has all 3 goals (or maybe it was only 2). Stanford 3-1
More offense in the 2nd quarter, with a few 6 on 5s, including one that continued over from the first quarter (Stanford seems to usually lose the sprints). U.SC pulled even and the Bonanni got two, including a penalty shot. Then back and forth.
The sun was against us. Our goalie didn't even move on 3 of the shots, partly because the shots were so good, but probably partly the sun. Stanford 7-5
3rd quarter, Stanford was rather weak on offense. Not many shots. U.SC got the first 3 goals to pull ahead 8-7, but Bonanni got a good break out and made a good 1 on zero shot against the 6'9" goalie. But it is anybody's game. Neither team seems stronger. Tie 8-8
3:53 to go... Stanford up 9-8. Better play by Stanford so far. Neither team is doing well on 6 on 5s.
3:08 left. Stanford misses on a 6-5, gets the rebound but passes to the wrong team. Time out U.SC.
1:38 left. Up 1 goal and may limit U.SC to one more possession.Â
0:19 left. Stanford up 1, but U.SC has the ball. Lots of nerves...
U.SC got the ball to their main scorer and he made the quick shot from 4m off to the left of the goal.
Tie game 0:14 left. Stanford has the ball. Didn't get a shot off.
Overtime. Stanford has at least 2 players, incl. Bonanni with 2 majors (you're out if you get a third). U.SC has at least one player out with 3.
OT 1 (2x 3min OTs)
Bonanni fouls out & U.SC scores. 9-10
0:29 left. Stanford has a 6-5
0:23 Bowen scores. 10-10
U.SC doesn't get a shot off, as Stanford steals the ball with 0:05 left.
On to OT#2
The game has been pretty well ref'ed. The announcers are good. And the play is great. Let's hope it goes the right way!!
0:36 Stanford's Bowen scores on 5m free ball! Up 11-10
0:11 U.SC scores on a 6 on 5. 11-11
No shot by Stanford.
Now we're to sudden death 3 min periods.
Stanford has only won one sprint. So U.SC probably gets the first shot.
U.SC scores on a longish shot with under 30 seconds left.
Stanford's season is over. UCLA, also ranked #1 with Stanford, but 3rd at MPSF tourney, had an easy opponent as Stanford was seeded 2nd.
