VTA offers excellent service to Levi's Stadium. The light rail goes directly to the stadium, although only the Alum Rock and Mountain View lines do not require a transfer. Special 49er Express buses, which I highly recommend are NOT running in the evening. Most Park & Ride lots are not charging a premium that evening. Public transit is much more hassle free, and far less expensive than driving, parking, and trying to leave the lots at Levi's Stadium.

I went to the C.al-Oregon game at Levi's Stadium earlier this year. I rode the VTA light rail from Campbell to Levi's Stadium (the Winchester line). If you're going to the tailgate you probably won't have to worry much about getting into a parking lot and finding a spot close to the exit.  Also, I don't expect as big a crowd as the 49ers have drawn this year, so getting out will probably not be too bad.

If the game started at 5 I'd be all about the VTA bus to Fremont BART, but with the 7:00 start I just don't see any option for getting home at a reasonable time besides driving. (The holiday lack-of-traffic is also factoring in here, according to 511 the roads were empty this morning.) So that leads me to, what's the difference between the "premium" and "general admission" parking passes? I have been completely unable to find anything about what that extra $10 gets you, but I might just be blind.

The Levi's people are still figuring out parking for their new stadium and for the Pac 12 championship game they didn't open all lots.  That created a bit of a jam near Great America according to a friend who drove from Mtn View to the game.  It took him 90 minutes from leaving his office to joining me at our seats.    Even accounting for the same level of confusion I'd expect leaving 2 1/2 hours before game time would be safe.  If you aren't risk averse you could push it closer to kick-off.
