If Peat were to return, I'm guessing the 2015 OL would be:

LT: Peat
LG: Garnett
  C: Shuler
RG: Fanaika
RT: Murphy

If Peat were to leave, it would be:

Hands will wring at the thought of Peat's departure, but to me, the 2015 OL is going to be better, with or without Peat because Fanaika at RG is going to upgrade the interior blocking.  Moreover, Garnett really improved throughout the season and had a great bowl game performance.  The prospect of improved interior OL play is what is going to make Stanford's OL in 2015, not necessarily whether Andrus Peat is there or not.

I think you are undervaluing chemistry.  We saw this year how important that is in addition to individual talent. I do not see any returning starter being replaced next year.  It is also possible that to maintain that chemistry that Murphy stays at right tackle.  Tucker seems like a talented option to come in at left tackle.  Also, do not over look Bright.  He saw a lot of minutes in the bowl game.

Looks to me like we have the kind of problem we want to have - too many good players for too few spots.  I'm sure we will see quite a bit of all the afore-mentioned names.

However, I'll have to disagree with those who say we won't miss Peat if he goes.  You always miss an All-American.

Fanaika has been out with an injury since roughly the season started.  So no FB for three years.  Plus come spring , if able physically, he may switch to D

The plan has always been to let Murphy play LT after Peat moves on.  Murphy and Tucker were both 5 star recruits.

Stanford may not have the ability to re-load at some positions, but it certainly should at OL, and it should be able to replace Peat.  Since 2009 this 2014 season is the only one Stanford's OL didn't come together well enough to win 10 games, and some of those years there were three new OL starters.  But man did it come close.  Now with the three-game winning streak to close the season, the narrative seems to be "Stanford really should have won 10 games" instead of "Stanford seems to be on the decline."

David Shaw said the 2015 team is going to have good depth on both sides of the ball.  I'm assuming that includes the OL, and the 2014 OL struggles were an anomaly.  In any case, it sounds like there are more than a few people curious to know where Fanaika ends up in the mix.
