Not to be pedantic, but I don't think this is the proper use of dap. Giving dap is a physical act: a handshake, a pound, etc. It does not, as I have ever heard the term used, mean to give a simple shout-out (aka "shouts", aka "love"). To me, the best example of giving dap is what you see between players right before tip-off of an NBA game (though less so in the playoffs, where there is some bad blood between teams). Also unclear to me is whether you can give some dap. I think it is an all or nothing proposition.
Example: "When I bumped into X at reunion he gave me dap and asked about my family."
Don't be afraid to use it as a verb as well. You can dap someone up or be dapped.

Unless Sherman was helping Richards caulk his shower pan, WIM probably means a metaphorical social media dap.
Yeah, I just stare at my desk, but it looks like I'm working .I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work. Peter Gibbons
