I still can't believe women's bowling got that coveted NCAA championship format before women's ultimate. I guess a request for billiards will be up next from the rust belt schools.

I'm sad archery didn't make the cut as an emerging sport. I don't think ultimate has been brought up to the emerging sport list, but it should be.
Also, Stanford has the best team name out there. Fugue? Fuhgeddaboutit.

I don't know about those activities, but if the International Olympic Committee says that ballroom dancing is a sport worthy of Olympic designation, I would think it should be included in the Directors Cup calculation.

Despite the best efforts of DanceSport, I think it will be a cold day in at least purgatory (if not hell) if the IOC ever included competitive ballroom on the program...!

Likely. Not sure if competitive ballroom fits the "Citius, altius, fortius" Olympic motto...just saying.
Rollersports fits that motto better than ballroom, and rollersports is nowhere near inclusion. (I mean, wrestling almost got dropped, and baseball/softball are right out. You have to be as popular as rugby sevens to get in these days.)

If there's one thing people have learned in Berkeley, it's that you can't put "Cal football" and "Rose Bowl" in the same sentence. The words just don't fit. You'd be better off linking "covered wagons" with "Mars travel." (Bruce Jenkins, Cal '70, SF Chronicle, Nov. 11, 2017)
