Niners dismantled the Packers tonight, 37-8. Guess that whole meme about the Niners' weak early season schedule necessitated losses against the 8-2 teams they would play doesn't really work.
Stanford alum Blake Martinez had a nice sack, a TFL and six tackles.
Niners put on a tackling clinic tonight. Open field, TFL, five sacks, and the like. The Cardinal players and coaching staff could do worse than to watch this game on auto-repeat. Or just watch Fred Warner (11 tackles).
Sherman had two penalties, both of which were fairly borderline, I thought. He complained about three PI calls last week. I'm sure it didn't influence the refs this week at all.
Speaking of which, Aaron Rodgers whines -- a lot. Very irritating. Of course, he was 20 of 33 for 104 yards and 1 TD. His 3.2 yards/pass was the lowest of his career. Five sacks, two hits, six hurries and a 75.8 rating. Garoppolo, on the other hand, was 14 of 20 for 253 yards and 2 TDs for a 145.8 rating.
Garoppolo's TD pass was to George Kittle who was open by ten yards BECAUSE GAROPPOLO LOOKED OFF THE DEFENSE. Remember that, Cardinal quarterbacks.
Levine Toilolo was inactive. Chase Thomas got into the game, but had no tackles.
BTW, I don't think the Niners' wasted the 4th round pick on Wishnowsky. He punted for a 45.5 yard average, and puts most kickoffs in the end zone. Seems to be worth it.
