LOL, good catch!  I don't know why one would deprive oneself of the chance to watch a game-winning field goal as time expired.  Of course, even without watching, you would know what happened from the audio.

Good one.  My favorite FG miss was Cal's Robbie Keen in 1988, who was 23 of 23 on PATs and 17 of 19 FGs going into the Big Game, and made 4 FGs during the game (matched by Stanford's John Hopkins, who also had 4 FGs).  With just four seconds left, the score was 19-19 and Cal was on Stanford's 3 yard line, attempting an 18 yard FG.  75,662 fans in the stands.  Tuan Van Le races in to block the field goal attempt.  Happened right in front of me, I had to buy tickets in the middle of a bunch of Cal fans.

The tie in the 1988 Big Game felt like a win. The game-ending blocked kick prevented what looked like a certain loss and allowed Stanford to keep possession of the Axe.

This 48 yard FG by Nate Whitaker was not a game winner, but it was a game clincher. An epic upset of #7 Oregon in 2009. I would argue that it was significant as the first big home victory of the Harbaugh era.

This 48 yard FG by Nate Whitaker was not a game winner, but it was a game clincher. An epic upset of #7 Oregon in 2009. I would argue that it was significant as the first big home victory of the Harbaugh era.

That really was an epic game - so beautiful to watch - certainly from an offensive standpoint.  But even the D made some big plays against top notch talent at Oregon.  Great walk down memory lane. 

BTW, iirc, there were two things that stuck out to me about that game:

1.  I'm pretty sure it was in this game where Owusu was running a down-out-and-up route along the sunny sideline toward the north end zone.  He had just made his cut up the sideline and hadn't looked back toward the ball, which was already airborne.  Right when Owusu looked up the ball was "right there" and Owusu almost had no choice but to catch that ball.  I put that pass from Luck as #2 on his All Time Stanford Passes list (only behind Luck's otherworldly toss from his backside in the game at ASU).  The Owusu play I'm thinking of was not included in the video highlights you link, but I'm pretty sure it was that game.

2.  Post-game, Chip was asked a question along lines of:  "Has Stanford provided other teams with a blueprint on how to beat Stanford?"  And Chip's response was along lines of:  "I don't know.  Do other teams have Andrew Luck and Toby Gerhart?"  Think I've had a soft spot for The Chipster ever since that answer!

They’ve got five-star defensive backs. They’re big and physical and fast. I mean, other than that, they’re really freaking good. That’s why they have the top defense in the country. They’re hard to run the football on, so there wasn’t some magical scheme they came out with tonight. They’ve got five-star recruits everywhere and they play really physical ... damn.

The question was whether Georgia did anything special with their schemes to stymie South Carolina.  The answer was, "no, they're just really good"
